the first festival dedicated to public spaces in ho chi minh city.

:Playtime is the first festival in Vietnam dedicated to making our city more livable. With the participation of award-winning architects and urbanists from around the globe, the aim is to connect Ho Chi Minh City to a network of pioneering cities that promote the local street-life and provide citizens with playful tools to improve their daily lives.

The first edition took place between July 25th and 29th 2018. Our invited international guests exchanged with local professionals and citizens on public spaces and how to make the city more liveable for all.

Taking the public spaces with lectures, panel talks, workshops, film screenings and discussions, our first edition focused on the specific theme of “play in the city” to raise awareness on the importance to provide our children with great playspaces.

:Playtime 2019: Binh Quoi Re-Creation

For its second edition ‘Re-Creation’, :Playtime aimed at unveiling the essence of Binh Quoi. The precious and verdant area has the potential to develop as HCMC’s green lung.

During 2 week-ends, we hosted tours, workshops, discussions, screenings, performances around a set of temporary installations. These activities invited citizens to explore the area, and discuss their representation of its present and future: can Binh Quoi retain its natural and vernacular identity?
